Pillar · Data

Data is the raw material AI runs on

Generative AI changed the rules. Data no longer has to be structured (tables and databases), it can also be unstructured (emails, documents, conversations). That completely changes how you should collect and process information, and it's why companies need to rethink the way they handle their data. Even so, no AI is better than the data it's given. When that data is scattered, duplicated or incomplete, the results won't be reliable. Getting your data in order is the sensible first step towards adopting AI.

What this pillar is

The Data pillar looks at whether the information your company needs is accessible, well organised, up to date and good enough to rely on. It covers where your data lives, how it stays current and who is able to use it.

Why it matters for adoption

AI learns and makes decisions from data. When that data is messy or scattered, even the best tool gives you answers that are wrong or not much use. Clean, well-kept data does the opposite, multiplying the value of any automation or assistant you put to work.

Signs this pillar is weak

  • The same information lives in several places and nobody knows which version is the right one.
  • Pulling together a simple report means asking three different people for data.
  • Data sits in loose spreadsheets, emails and tools that don't talk to each other.
  • Nobody is quite sure which data can be used, or how much to trust it.

How we improve it

  • We map where your data lives today and spot duplicates, gaps and sources you can't fully trust.
  • We connect the tools you already use so information flows without copy and paste.
  • We define a single source of truth for the data that matters most to your business.
  • We get your data into shape so it can feed automations and AI with confidence.

FAQ

Common questions about data.

Do I need a data warehouse or something complex?

Almost never. Most small and mid-sized companies improve enormously just by tidying up what they already have and connecting their current tools properly. We only suggest new infrastructure when the volume of data really calls for it.

What if my data is all in spreadsheets?

That's the most common situation, and it isn't a problem to start from. We work with what you have and, if needed, move it gradually to a more reliable home without slowing down your day to day.

Does this comply with data protection rules?

Yes. Getting your data in order also means deciding who can access what and with which tools, which ties in directly with the Security pillar and staying compliant with the GDPR.
